THE BIOGRAPHY OF LIEUTENANT GENERAL FİKRET DEMİRTAŞ CHIEF OF STAFF

LIEUTENANT GENERAL DEMİRTAŞ  was born in Muğla in 1952. After completing his primary and secondary education in Muğla, he was enrolled in Kuleli Military High School in 1967. He graduated from Kuleli Military High School in 1970, the Military Academy as Gendarmerie Lieutenant in 1973, the Infantry School in 1974 and the Gendarmerie Officer School in 1975.

     Lieutenant General Fikret DEMİRTAŞ, who served in various units of the Gendarmerie General Command in Afyonkarahisar, Yozgat and Mardin, attended to the High Class of the Gendarmerie Officer School in France between the years of 1979 – 1980.

    He was enrolled in the Army Staff College in 1985 and after graduating from the Army War College in 1987, he graduated from the Armed Forces College in 1989.

He served as;

• Deputy Military Attaché of Syria Damascus between the years of 1990 – 1993,

•  Chief of Staff and Chief of Training in the Gendarmerie Schools Command respectively between the years of 1993 – 1995,

• Regiment Commander of Foça Gendarmerie Commando School and Private Training between the years of 1995 – 1996,

• Secretary General of the Gendarmerie General Command between the years of 1996 – 1997,

• Chief of the General Plans and Policy Department between the years of 1997 – 1998, and

• Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Commander between the years of 1998 – 1999.

He was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in 1999 and served as;

• Diyarbakır Gendarmerie Regional Commander between the years of 1999 – 2001 and

• Bilecik 2^nd Gendarmerie Training Brigade Commander between the years of 2001 – 2003.

He was promoted to the rank of Major General in 2003 and served as;

• Gendarmerie Schools Commander between the years of 2003 – 2005,

• Chief of Operations in the Gendarmerie General Command between the years of 2005 – 2007 with this rank.

He was appointed as the Chief of Staff in the Gendarmerie General Command in 2010.

Lieutenant General Fikret DEMİRTAŞ is married to Mrs. Birsen DEMİRTAŞ, has two children and knows French.
