PERSONNEL STRUCTURE OF GENDARMERIE GENERAL COMMAND
The personnel of Gendarmerie General Command:
Officers,
Non-commissioned officers (NCO),
Specialized Gendarmeries,
Specialized Sergeants,
Cadets,
Enlisted specialists and conscripts,
Civil servants and workers.
OFFICER
Military Academy graduate 2nd lieutenants,
Outsourced active/contracted officers,
NCOs promoted to the rank of officer constitute the officer source of Gendarmerie General Command.
Gendarmerie 2nd lieutenants graduated form Military Academy, outsourced contracted 2nd lieutenants and NCOs promoted to the rank of officer are given professional training and education in judicial, administrative, military and other duties of Gendarmerie for a year at Gendarmerie Officer School in Gendarmerie Schools Command affiliated to Gendarmerie Training Command and after the graduation from Gendarmerie Officer School they are offered a four-month Commando Course in Commando School.
Gendarmerie Officers who have successfully completed these courses serve as a deputy commander at Gendarmerie District Commands in the units they have been assigned until the general appointment period. Other branch officers (quartermaster and finance branches etc.) are given training and education about their branches in service schools affiliated to the Land Forces Command and then they are assigned to the units they will serve.
NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER (NCO)
Non-commissioned officers (high school graduates) trained at Gendarmerie NCO Vocational High School,
Specialized gendarmeries, specialized sergeants and contracted female NCOs (university or college or vocational school graduates) trained at Gendarmerie NCO Basic Course constitute the NCO source of Gendarmerie General Command.
Gendarmerie NCOs are appointed to the units they serve after they have graduated from Gendarmerie NCO Vocational High School (it offers a two-year education) and passed Gendarmerie NCO Basic Course (it offers a one-year education) on completing the military and professional education successfully.
Application Procedures for Gendarmerie NCO Vocational High School :
Before publishing the announcement on the internet and in the media, 15 days before the application period, with the help of Gendarmerie Provincial and District Commands it is announced that Gendarmerie NCO Vocational High School will receive new students from civilian sources. Complimentary informative leaflets on application procedures and requirements are available at the application offices in Gendarmerie Provincial and District Commands.
From the applicants whose applications have been approved and who have been given an entrance ID for the exam the ones whose university entrance exam score (without the achievement score calculated according to the exam scores at high school) is above the minimum score that will be defined by Gendarmerie General Command are invited for physical examination and interview and their physical capabilities are tested. The applicants who have successfully completed this stage are listed in order as to their university entrance exam scores (including both the entrance exam score and high school achievement score) and the names of the successful applicants are announced via internet and media.
SPECIALIZED GENDARMERIE
The need for Specialized Gendarmeries in Gendarmerie General Command is met via outsourcing. High school, college, vocational school and university graduates can apply to become a specialized gendarmerie.
Specialized Gendarmeries are offered a one-year military and professional education at Specialized Gendarmerie School and after the graduation a six-month on-the-job training is given them in the units they serve.
Application Procedures for Specialized Gendarmerie School :
Before publishing the announcement on the internet and in the media, 15 days before the application period, with the help of Gendarmerie Provincial and District Commands it is announced that Specialized Gendarmerie School will receive new students from civilian sources. Complimentary informative leaflets on application procedures and requirements are available at the application offices in Gendarmerie Provincial and District Commands.
Specialized Gendarmerie applicants whose applications have been accepted and who have been delivered an entrance ID for the examination are invited for a written exam, the first phase of the entrance exam, which is evaluated by Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). In the written exam, a multi-choice exam consisting of questions testing the applicants’ general skills and general knowledge is conducted. The applicants who have passed the exam and achieved to get in the quota determined by Gendarmerie General Command are invited for an interview and physical examination and their physical capabilities are tested. The applicants who have passed all these stages are listed as to their scores and the names of the successful applicants are announced via the Internet and the media.
SPECIALIZED SERGEANTS
Conscripts in the troops,
Discharged conscripts and sergeants constitute the specialized sergeant source.
Gendarmerie specialized sergeants are specialized corporals and sergeants employed in order to meet the need for trained personnel in technical duties requiring continuity in the staff of Turkish Armed Forces.
The ones who are at least secondary school graduates, meet the requirements of the branches described as a need by Gendarmerie General Command and have been discharged from the army at least 3 years ago can apply for being a specialized sergeant by sending the application forms and documents to the Application Approval Centre of Gendarmerie General Command in Beytepe Ankara.
The information on the documents required for the application and on the application procedure and applicants’ registration procedures are announced via the media once the application period starts.
SERGEANTS, CORPORALS AND CONSCRIPTS
The Department of National Defence drafts conscripts in accordance with the Law on Military Service No.1111. These conscripts also meet the need of Gendarmerie General Command.
After the last roll call, service commands that these conscripts will be sent are determined with the help of a computerized system and ciphered records in the Recruitment Department randomly. Classes, branches, training centres and transferring groups of the privates, who are separated to the Gendarmerie Class, are determined by the Gendarmerie General Command.
CIVIL SERVANTS
Gendarmerie General Command employs civil servants according to their KPSS (Public Sector Selection Exam) scores and open positions are announced via the Internet and media.

All the announcements about the open positions and student enrolments are published in newspapers and displayed on the web site of Gendarmerie General Command. The results are also published on the web site (www.jandarma.tsk.tr) and application requirements of the last announcement are shown on the same web site in order to give information till the next announcement.
